Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 22, 2026

Mailwright is a browser extension that helps you draft, improve, and summarize emails using any OpenAI-compatible LLM provider you choose. We take your privacy seriously.

No backend, no account

This extension has no backend server and does not require you to create an account. It runs entirely within your browser.

What data is stored

All data is stored locally in your browser and never leaves your device:

This data is not accessible to us and is only used to serve you locally.

What data is sent to third parties

When you use a feature that calls an LLM, the text you provide is sent directly from your browser to the Base URL you configured in Settings (for example, DeepSeek, OpenAI, Kimi, Qwen, Ollama, or a custom endpoint). We do not intercept, store, or process this data.

Please review the privacy policy of your chosen LLM provider to understand how they handle your data. Do not submit sensitive information you would not want shared with that provider.

Email access

The extension can read the content of the email message currently open in your active tab only when you click the Grab from email or Use selected text button. This access is on-demand and limited to the supported webmail domains: https://mail.google.com/*, https://outlook.com/* and https://outlook.live.com/* (plus outlook.office.com / outlook.office365.com). No email content is collected or transmitted to us.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use cookies or advertising of any kind. With your permission, Mailwright collects anonymous usage metrics (such as which feature you used, the provider you selected, and success/error counts) to help us improve the extension. This is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

These metrics contain no email content, no generated text, no API keys, and no personal information of any kind. They are sent directly from your browser to Google Analytics (a third-party processor) using a randomly generated, anonymous client ID that is not linked to you. We never have access to the underlying email text you process.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
